In-depth application process, then a hiring phone call screening. Then two rounds of behavioral interviews (one with other business analysts and one with a hiring manager), and finally a long day of successive interviews, including a case study

Quite an intense process from the start with two different kinds of tests including a 15-minute logic assessment with 50 questions, which one can only assume most people can't finish in the allotted time (doesn't quite set the best tone). The initial phone interview felt rather scripted, and not being on camera made it hard to establish a rapport (they made it clear you had to keep your camera off). From my understanding, there might have been three more rounds of panel interviews -including with leadership- as well as case studies / presentations. I've not encountered any such level of interviewing before and it's quite demanding, especially for candidates who are already employed fulltime. Lastly, I applied for a Project Manager role and was asked to interview for a lower level position, Business Analyst, as a "better" fit, despite having almost 20 years of PM experience.

From our President: It’s true that we have a demanding recruiting process. Your understanding of what the process “might have” entailed is not accurate. After reviewing your initial assessment results, we thought the BA role might be a better fit for you than the PM role. But, BAs are certainly not “lower level” than PMs at Grant Street. By far, most of our senior managers were BAs. In a company with a fully remote and highly collaborative workforce, we have to apply rigorous recruiting standards to maintain our extraordinarily high employee and customer satisfaction. By the way, we observe the common practice of asking you to keep your camera off to give you the protections of a “blind interview.”

      Entrevista

I would not recommend applying to this company based on my interview experience. This was honestly the worst interview experiences I’ve ever had. The conversation started with the recruiter asking me to talk about my experience and what kind of role I was looking for, so I answered accordingly. She then said she was actually asking about my personal interests and hobbies, so I adjusted and answered that as well. After that, the tone of the interview became very uncomfortable. She appeared cold and upset throughout the call, and instead of focusing on my professional background, skills, or industry experience, she kept asking personal questions that felt irrelevant and inappropriate. What made me especially uncomfortable was that after seeing that I was not white, she started asking questions like when I came to the U.S., whether I was on an F-1 visa, whether I had lived in different cities, and other personal background questions. Even after I clarified my status, her attitude still seemed negative. I cannot say for certain what her intentions were, but the whole interaction felt biased, invasive, and deeply unprofessional. I have interviewed with many companies, and in my experience, professional interviewers use that time to understand your work experience, technical background, and fit for the role not to dig into your personal life. Throughout the call, she looked visibly unhappy, which made the entire experience even more uncomfortable and disrespectful. What made it worse was that after all of that, she told me the next 30-minute interview with the hiring manager had been canceled. It felt abrupt and dishonest, especially since the meeting had already been scheduled. I had spent a lot of time preparing, and it was clear that my time was not respected at all.

From our HR Interviewer: When you gave inconsistent answers to routine questions regarding your visa status (for example, saying you were a foreign student but without a student visa), you left us with the impression you might be a “fake applicant”. We, like nearly every employer offering remote positions, are inundated with fake applicants (who are often associated with criminal rings), so we have to ask more penetrating questions, as in your case, when the applicant gives answers that raise suspicion.
