      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de una recomendación de un empleado. El proceso tomó 1 día. Acudí a una entrevista en Goldman Sachs (New York, NY) en ene 2013

      Entrevista

The process was one very long superday held at Goldman Sach's Jersey City office. I applied online, and also had my resume forwarded to a GS recruiter. I was invited to attend the superday about two weeks before the date it was to be held. Each candidate had morning interviews (usually two, each half an hour long) and then if there was a team that was interested in the candidate, that candidate would be invited to stay for additional final round interviews that afternoon. I had a total of 6 interviews that day, with 8 interviewers (each of my morning interviews had 2 interviewers; each of my afternoon interviews had 1 interviewer). After the superday was over, they called me the next day with an update that a team was interested in my resume, and the day after that (i.e. 2 days after the superday) they called me with an offer.

      Preguntas de entrevista [3]

      Pregunta 1

Suppose we hire you, and you and the rest of the new interns decide to go buy a cup of coffee. Each intern purchases one cup of coffee. One of the interns suggests everyone play a game. Everyone will flip a fair coin, dividing the group of interns into two subgroups: those that got heads and those that got tails. The game is this: whichever group is smaller evenly splits the cost of everyone's cup of coffee (i.e. if there are 5 interns, 3 get H, 2 get T, then the two interns that got tails each buy 2.5 cups of coffee). However, nothing says you need to play this game. You can choose to buy your own cup of coffee and not play the game at all. The question: Should you play this game? (Note: You may assume that there is an odd number of interns, so there are no ties, and that if everyone gets H or everyone gets T, then everyone loses and just buys their own cup of coffee).

      Pregunta 2

As you know, we are in this business to make money. What can you tell me about your background that shows me you have the ability, drive, and passion to make money for our firm?

      Pregunta 3

For strats we more or less have two roles: desk strats and sales strats. I think it's fair to say that the role of a desk strat is to prevent us from losing money. For them 0 is a good day. But for a sales strat, we need to make money. So which role do you think is better: making money or preventing us from losing money?
