The interview process was clear and well executed. They tell you what the steps are, where you're at, and what the next steps are. They are also considerate if you ever need to reschedule. For the technical part of the interviews, they were not all too concerned about getting super deep into the language but more of if you can justify the choices you made within the technology provided. It felt more like a code review than an interview, and it involved actual programming. This was great for someone like me who has trouble articulating my thoughts when nervous because I can show them instead of telling them. They are also very transparent about their work and workflows. I asked the managers what I should expect on a day-to-day, how the team works together, how we'll be working together. They were happy to explain everything. Basically, when they said "We're not only interviewing you, you're interviewing us as well" they meant it. They seemed keen to impress me as a candidate just as much as I was trying to impress them as my potential employer as well.

Four interviews in total: - 40 minute screening call - 90 minute technical interview - 60 minute behavioural interview with hiring manager - 60 minute behavioural interview with HM's manager All of the interviews went well, and I had some great positive feedback along the way. The last interviewer indicated they would make a decision about next steps within 2 days. It has now been four weeks. I have followed up with the recruiter and have heard nothing. It seems like I've been unsuccessful - it happens! But all it'd take is one tiny email response from the recruiter to let me know and provide closure. Throughout the process each of the interviewers talked about GitLab's values, and these values are why I was interested in interviewing here. Sadly, despite pushing them so hard, it seems like they don't abide by their 'transparency' value.
