Lengthy interview process with 6 interviews before I reached the the 7th and final interview with the CEO or similar. The interviews were pretty simple, and everyone friendly, however I did find the process extremely time-consuming and draining. I wanted the job though, Gitlab is a cool product/company after all. Before actually completing the last interview I was told the salary on the table had been slashed by about 20% due to Gitlab recalculating pay in my location. They previously did not have my city in their 'database'[1]. When I got the updated information I was extremely dismayed, I couldn't afford to take the job any more and I was right through to the last round. I felt this was unprofessional, unfair, and disrespectful to the time and effort I had put into pursuing a job that basically they made from border-line doable to laughably underpaid.
