Decent experience with the process but the ending ultimately ruined it. Questions were the expected ones for a management role such as this and not difficult if you have the right skillset. 3 stages, recruiter call - line manager interview and final stage with the company general manager. All 3 interviews happened within a week. Line manager seemed very impersonal and almost tried to put me off the role by mentioning constantly how difficult it would be and asking if I was ‘really ok’ with it, despite me explaining my skills and examples of where I’ve experienced these situations before. General manager was a delight and very nice to chat to.
I was ultimately not offered the role. The reason for this was down solely to my driving record as this was a field role. However - my driving record was disclosed and discussed at the very first stage (recruiter call) and it was explained to me that I may have to take car allowance instead of a company car which I was happy with. In the 2nd interview with the line manager this was also a question asked and I explained clearly about my driving record and was not given any hint this would be a problem - especially when I got a phone call at 9am the next day with an invite to final stage! I think you can understand my surprise when I was fast tracked through an interview process which I put a lot of time into (3.5 hours interview time total PLUS prep) to then be told I’d been rejected based on something I’d disclosed at the first stage? The recruiter even said the hiring managers thought I was perfect for the role, the driving record was the only reason for my rejection. When I emailed after and questioned the decision I was ignored. Seems communication was very poor between parties and HR not got a clue. Shame because the role was one I was passionate about.
