      Entrevista

First, I filled out the application. Geico is very specific about what requirements one needs to have a strong application. They also ask for documents and verify the applicant’s job history, education, and other credentials. The applications take about 30 minutes to complete and will ask about the applicant’s interest in the company among other things. I then received an email which provided a link to the tests. The pre-employment tests provide Geico with an objective assessment of the candidate’s aptitude and competency. The computer skills test is a combination of the typing skills and basic computer navigation. Geico wants to ensure basic computer knowledge so that the candidate can be fairly self-sufficient with their day-to-day tasks. It will be a timed assessment, and Geico’s minimum expectations for the candidate is being able to type forty words per minute while maintaining accuracy and providing high-quality work. Depending on your performance during the pre-employment testing, Geico may conduct your final interview that day. If not, the candidate will be invited back the following week. The final interview will consist of a mix of technical and competency-based questions. The people interviewing you will be a hiring manager and a key team member in the field you have applied for. They prefer the candidates to go into detail and provide specifics when asked questions about past projects, jobs, and experiences. When asked technical, job-specific questions, candidates should walk the interviewers through their thought process and explain how they came to a given resolution. I competed this interview through Webex.

      Entrevista

I had applied online and a day later, I received a call to do a phone interview. The lady asked me questions about my past work experience and scheduled a day when to come in for testing and interviews. First, I was ask to sign in and wait in the lobby. A young lady came into the lobby and asked for those who were testing to go into a computer room. She then gives you your applicant ID to enter into the computer login and tells you how the testing process works. Once I did that, myself and six others were told to put the headphones on and listen to instructions. This is were the multi-tasking and typing tests begins. There are three sections; multitask typing, multitask, and typing (this is the order of the testing). We had to listen to the customers and enter all information regarding their concerns relating to claims, sales, or services. It stated during the testing YOU DO NOT HAVE TO COMPLETE ALL OF THE INFORMATION that the "customer" states during the phone call or email. Be sure to pay very close attention to details and listen, but be as ACCURATE and quick as you can be. That is what they are grading you on. The multitask sections are testing you on your listening skills and of course, your ability to multi-task. EVERYTHING IS TIMED! So be FAST and once gain, ACCURATE! The typing portion is a lengthy paragraph that you would have to type from word to word. YOU CANNOT 'BACKSPACE.' So, try your best to type as fast as you can and be careful. If you can ace this portion of the testing along with the multi-task portion, then you move on to the first Interview. Another lady named Abi interviewed me and she seemed to be a nice lady. She asked me several questions (mainly behavioral questions) about past experience and how I responded to customers. Once the interview was over, she asked me to wait in the lobby for mock calling. Mock calling is where you pretend to work for an ERS for a fake company and you are given information (3 pages) on how to interact with the customers, forms to fill out, a notepad and pen to take notes from the information, a fake map, and different customers last names with information about that customer (coverage, vehicle information, addresses, etc.) on the forms. Once you are in the room alone with the paperwork and phone, the lady who interviewed you will call and pretend like an upset customer, a customer in a rush, and a customer unfamiliar of the location and frightened (this is from my personal experience. I am not saying that these are the scenarios for all applicants who applied for any positions at GEICO.) After each fake call, the interviewer will call back and ask you how did you think you do. If you pass the mock calling portion, then you move on to either the second interview or area where you are to listen to actual calls from customers. Unfortunately, I was not able to experience listening to actual calls or the second interview, because I was told that I would be contacted within a few days after the mock calls. So I am pretty sure that was their polite way of saying that they are no longer interested in me. ADVICE TO YOU: Just be honest, relax and stay calm, be as fast and accurate as you can be and LISTEN especially during the first part of the testing on the computer. If you are able to do these things, then you will do well. It is not as difficult as people try to make it out to be. Just have a positive mindset and do the best to your ability, and you will ACE the hiring process. Don't let your nerves get the best of you. That is why it is important to RELAX :) Good luck to you all and I hope you all get the job!!!!
