Candid and Comfortable. I had my phone interview carried out 1 week prior to my face-to-face interview. Both involved at least one current Engineering intern and their head of command in Engineering. Both took 1 hour each. I was able to ask lots of questions regarding their experience in the position. I was expected to carry out a paper-based presentation I had prepared based on a template that was provided to me a few days earlier. No technical questions asked. There was one instance where I was asked a question that had a similar answer to a previous question and they apologized for expecting a similar answer. I was able to give them a different situation where I the circumstances were similar. This broadened their appreciation of my undertakings.
