I was contract and went thru a temp company. I did not have to have an interview with the employer I was being sent to. I went in and worked on a week to week basis for the for the first month and then was kept for over a year. I watched the interview process for others and it can be a bit rigorous. You do meet with almost each person within the company when they interview for an actual hire on position, so be ready for questions from many people.
