Applied online. Got a response email asking for a writing test, which I completed and sent. They responded to me in a few days saying that they loved my writing test, and asked me for convenient times for a phone interview with them, but before that I needed to answer a few basic questions regarding hours, compensation, visa issues and the like. I responded honestly, which was that I'm okay with the timings and compensation, but am on an international visa after graduating from my Master's this May. I was expecting a response soon, but only got one after 4 days, saying they'd decided to move forward with other candidates. This seemed very odd to me, and the only thing that I can think of that might have hampered my chances is that I told them that I'm on a visa. That's fine, I get that some companies aren't willing to hire international candidates, but why not specify that in the beginning? I wouldn't have wasted my time and effort into the writing test had I known before.

Had to reschedule twice. When I finally got in for the interview, was ignored for an hour, then blamed for coming in late (I was 15 minutes early). When interviewer realized it was his mistake, he did not apologize. Office has fake book wallpaper and old timey popcorn machine, but doesn't pay its full time interns. Very "hip." Questions were condescending and interviewer looked at phone as I answered. Describing what he wanted in an intern, he said "nerdy guys" before catching himself and adding "and girls."
