I applied in person in response to an ad posted on Craigslist. I showed up between 2pm and 4pm on a Tuesday so it would be slow and I could speak to a manager that day. I brought my resume and had to fill out an application anyway. Got to speak with a manager when I turned everything in and set up the official interview. Came back a couple days later and met with the Hiring Manager. He signed me up to come in for training the upcoming week.
