Had a first screening with a recruiter and a second interview with a senior editor. The recruiter was nice and very helpful. The experience with the senior editor was a little frustrating: I felt like they only read my resumé right before the interview and were already decided she wouldn't hire me. Received a rejection email a day after the interview.
an initial interview with HR for basic questions and past experiences and then an interview with both future editor and managing editor to discuss the possible niches, followed up by offer decision with little to no room for salary negotiation

How will I find the subjects and interviewees (basically asking what to pitch and how to find sources)
Two interviews with editors, asking about my experience, why I was interested in the particular beat, and stories I'd pursue if I were on staff. Very standard and amiable. There was minimal interaction with HR initially, which I actually appreciated.
