I applied online and was reached out to by their recruiter to set up a phone interview. It was delayed for a week due to illness (which was annoying but hey, life happens). The phone conversation with the recruiter was incredible - she had great energy and really did an amazing job of selling me on Flexport and why I should want to work there. A week later I had a zoom interview with my potential manager. She seemed friendly and knowledgeable and was prompt with the time of our interview (even though she happened to be traveling). Two weeks later, I was asked to work on a data project that I had to turn in. The instructions were a little more vague than I expected, but I figured they wanted to see how my brain worked so I didn't ask too many questions. After I turned in that project, I was asked to come on-site for an in person interview. The in-person interview was with 3 different business partners and the fourth was to present my data findings to my potential future team/peers. I thought all of the interviewers were friendly and knowledgeable but 2 of the 4 business partners video'd in (as opposed to interviewing me in person), which I thought was a bit odd. There was a round of in-person "how would you solve this problem" with a business partner and it was the only part of the interview I didn't feel super confident about. The other sense I got (and this may have just been the vibe I got from this particular department) was that most of the people I met were fairly introverted and I wasn't sure after leaving that personality-wise I would've been a great fit for that team. All things considered, however, I got a great impression of the company and felt well prepared for what to expect. The recruiting team was super responsive and checked in with me on a regular basis. They were incredibly professional and arguably the best recruiting team I've ever worked with. I didn't end up getting the offer and was rejected over the phone (which... I've never had someone do that before but in retrospect I appreciated it). I was annoyed considering the amount of TIME I had spent waiting between the phone interview, video interview, the data project that I worked on for a week, and all of the in-person rounds... only to get rejected. It was two months of hoping only to be let down. At the end of the day, I ended up getting a better offer a week later and I think the role I ended up getting with the other company was a better fit (culture-wise and job-wise), so there were no hard feelings. Overall it was an incredibly positive experience and if an opportunity came up at Flexport in the future, I'd certainly consider it.
