After I applied for a Sr. Hw position , I got an email to schedule for an initial interview. My first interview was actually with the hiring manager, took about 40 min, mostly going over my resume/background and also the role, I was told at the end they will be in touch in a couple of weeks. Two weeks later I was contacted to be interviewed for a second time. This time was with a technical engineer, mostly going over the role and also asking some technical questions here and there.
A week later I got an email for the next round (panel interview). This time I was given 4 questions and was asked to prepare a 15 min presentation about those 4 questions. The panel had three people (Hiring Manager, Senior Engineer and Executive Director). Once the presentation was over, some technical questions and mainly discussing my availability to start etc.
Following day I got an email from the senior recruiter that she has been informed the panel has been very impressed with me and have asked her to go ahead with the approval process to get me on-board. She asked to schedule a phone call to discuss my salary expectation and their benefits and compensation. During the call she discussed that the position is going to be remote for the first 4-6 months and after that 3 days onsite, 2 days remote; we also discussed my salary expectation and she seemed to think I was in the range. While we were talking she said she is filling out the forms for the approval process and towards the end of the conversation she said I already have 2 approvals out of 3 needed and I should see an official offer in my inbox within the next few days.
Following morning (it was Friday) she sent me an email saying she needs to have a quick chat with me and asked for an available time. 5 minutes past the scheduled call, she sent me an email saying "I am so sorry, I was just pulled into a meeting with our COO. Can we chat sometime this weekend? "
No contacts from her during the weekend nor on Monday or Tuesday after. I send her an email on Wednesday asking if she still wants to chat, she emailed back the following:
"Thank you for your patience. I am sorry that it has taken me so long to get back to you. We have been unable to secure the required approvals from the executive to extend an offer. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors."
That was the end of it.
Just a side note: I also noticed the word "Senior" in the title of the position I had applied for had been removed exactly on the day she was originally going to contact me for a quick chat (Friday)
Honestly after reading all the negative comments, while I was still going through the interview process I was having second thoughts about wanting to work for them, and then after seeing how they handled their offer process I am glad I didn't get the offer.
Geeta Gupta, who is the Co-Founder, CFO & COO also currently the HR executive is deeply involved with everything including the hiring process as it seems.
I am not sure if anyone else has had this kind of experience with Fisker but to me this was very odd.
