Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 2 días. Acudí a una entrevista en FinQuery (Tampa, FL) en nov 2020
Entrevista
1 - Call with a recruiter who tries to make you feel at home and asks general weed out questions about things they could have already seen on the LinkedIn profile or resume they were provided. He tells you that you'll be taking a technical code assessment via live interview
2 - Arrive to the "interview" by clicking an email link to a notepad-based online repl because the company is averse to using something like codeinterview.io with templates suited for that language. You'll also find that the interviewers are so awkward that they will take the cursor/keyboard control away from you while you're typing actual code or SQL statements so that they can type sentences to you because they refuse to use a google hangout, zoom, teams, or even a phone call to conduct the interview.
3 - You'll be given very vague questions like "What is wrong with this database?", and while you're still answering and listing things or even while you're in the middle of typing a question (between your lines of code btw), you'll have your typing session ended so that they can respond with "That's not the point" while they also avoid telling you what "point" they're making. It seems inhuman and apathetic.
4 - Told to make a web api call to a real api (swapi) using one of the few methods available, again essentially using a text editor that you'll pray compiles. This makes little sense as you are not writing in a real IDE, so it takes forever to get to the actual coding challenge. They don't tell you that copy/pasting in the text editor doesn't work correctly, so in my case they watched as I unpeeled code for 30 minutes and said nothing at all - the issue was just that "paste" adds text you've previously copied outside the site which in my case was a slightly different url.
Told to expect feedback from recruiter - never happened
We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and take your feedback seriously. As a result we are reviewing our applicant testing practices and are also reviewing our process around communication to applicants. Thank you again and best wishes with your job search.
