Honestly, what a mess. I’m glad it didn’t work out because this interview process showed a lack of professionalism and consideration for the candidate. They took at least a month between each stage and were not good at responding to emails. I’ve had interviewers have to cancel last minute before, life happens, but I’ve never had someone just not show up. While FedTech’s premise sounds good on paper, I wouldn’t encourage people to spend time with this unresponsive and frustrating company.
Month One
The first round was a phone screener with a recruiter. They didn’t seem interested in my answers- it was mostly a box-ticking exercise, and not a conversation.
Month Two
The second round was a video hangout with one hiring manager. I had a pleasant conversation with the manager about my experience and what FedTech was looking for.
Month Three
The third round was supposed to be another video hangout with a different hiring manager. This person never showed up to the interview. When I emailed to check in, I got an out-of-office message. A few hours later, I got an email from the hiring manager claiming they had internet issues. I was frustrated that neither the hiring manager nor HR thought to let me know the interview wouldn’t take place.
A few weeks after asking to reschedule, HR emailed me back. The earliest available interview slot was month four, which I took.
Month Four
Four days before my rescheduled interview, FedTech emailed me an automatic rejection letter.
