      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. Acudí a una entrevista en FHLBank Chicago (Chicago, IL) en ago 2020

      Entrevista

Recruiter contacted me via Linkedin. I shared my resume and references. I was asked to share 2, but they were flexible and only had to share 1. I got an update that they were interested and wanted me to do the formal app on the website just to get into the system (only took 2 minutes). I was given a 4 question, 2 hour Hackerrank test. The 4 questions picked were well designed, and fit the role. I missed the last one but passed this screening anyway. I then got the 1st round interview, which was to see if I would be a good fit. (They were looking for someone who was looking for a longer commitment). I gave my reasons for why I would probably stay a while. I passed and got the 2nd round interview, which was a 1 hour code share with video cam. The Hiring Manager and 2 Devs on the team were there. They were all friendly and patient, as it was all of our first time trying an online white boarding session. I had to solve 1 algo question, it was a pretty fair and simple one, and they focused on seeing your process and problem solving. I was a bit lucky as the algo I studied the day before, led me to coming up with a linear time solution right away, though I lost my way and they suggested me to do it the simple brute force way first. I had the chance to tell how I would optimize it later on. Then I was asked to briefly show how I would test a search button's UI, and how to test its API request/response, and I shared some quick outlines of the files/tools I need and what the code would look like. I was told the 3rd round behavioral interview would come next week, but at the end of the 2nd round tech interview I was given the choice to do the behavioral part right then and there, or wait next week, and was told my choice wouldn't matter. I said I was super down to do it right then, and did so. I was very eager and realized how unprepared and aimless many of my answers were, and apologized for it but the HM was patient and said it was OK. Overall it was a well designed and pleasant and positive experience! The recruiter did a particularly excellent job keeping me updated and being friendly and really making me feel wanted.
