Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 1 día. Acudí a una entrevista en Evonik (New York, NY) en ene 2019

      Entrevista

One of the worst interviews I have come across. (As an International in the US) I was contacted by an external recruiter for the position for Market Development Specialist. I immediately expressed interest as I was confident that I'd be a perfect fit for this position. The recruiter hopped on a call with me even though I have stated on my application, or rather, checked 'yes' that I AM AN INTERNATIONAL AND WOULD REQUIRE VISA SPONSORSHIP IN THE FUTURE. (Even after that, I received a call). Now, you would think that even after checking 'yes' in the application, receiving an interview means that 'The Company is open to Internationals.' and having checked the records, Evonik does support Internationals and in the past, has sponsored International candidates in such positions. Moving forward, I spoke to the recruiter and expressed dire interest in the role. And then he/she asked me this question. 'Will you now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship?' to which i replied, 'Yes'. The recruiter then says, 'Sorry, we don't sponsor for this role.' I'm like, 'Whaaat'. I HAVE CLEARLY MENTIONED ON MY APPLICATION THAT I WOULD REQUIRE SPONSORSHIP IN THE FUTURE. THEN WHY DID YOU WASTE MY TIME IN SCHEDULING AN INTERVIEW AND SPEAKING WITH ME? To be honest, I was extremely passionate to work here as I perfectly match the requirements and qualifications and was so confident that I would contribute immensely to the company. Thanks to your recruiter, you have lost a potential asset. Never applying again!!

Thank you for your feedback. We hear your concern about the application review and will review with our team. We also understand that you feel that other similar roles provided sponsorship. While Evonik does provide sponsorship for some positions, it is not our usual practice. The decision to offer sponsorship is driven by the need of the job, not on the desire to hire an individual candidate who would need sponsorship. That falls in line with our other employment-related policies that are based on the needs of the job rather than our desire to hire a certain person. We recognize that this was a frustrating situation and we are looking at process improvements to eliminate this confusion in the future.
