Just because they focus on code, doesn't mean it's not about UX. Code skills are actually a really valuable tool to a UX designer this day in age. I took the interview/test too...it actually IS about UX, it's just that they want UX designers who can code the A/B tests that they put together to determine which changes to make to their sites/products. It's not a traditional UX role no, but that doesn't mean it's not a UX role at all.
