      Entrevista

The process was stretched out and often confusing as the team went through a reorganization. Across over 10 interviews, the conversations often felt repeated thus making the interviews repetitive. Culture + skillset are highly focused on in the process of interviews so make sure to prepare for both

      Entrevista

I first met with an HR recruiter, then the hiring manager on two separate days. I advanced through those stages then the following week I met a number of members of the department through 5 separate interviews. It was a pretty low-stress interview process all around. The main concern was seeking alignment of my skills within the organization. They team was well trained in interviewing too so there was a lot of structure.

Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 3 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en Esri (Redlands, CA) en mar 2016

      Entrevista

Short descriptors: 3+ months total, multiple phone + onsite interviews, very nice team but lack of communication evident, smatterings of age discrimination, poor interview coordination and a lack of respect for a candidate's time Interview process started back in late December and consisted of the following: 1) 1 hr phone interview by would-be manager 2) 1 hr phone interview by would-be teammates 3) all day panel of interviews of would-be manager, would-be team, would-be director, and someone in finance 4) 1 hr interview with CMO. I was also supposed to be interviewed by the corporate team but they cancelled the day of. While I enjoyed getting to know the people and personalities, the process was 3+ month long. Because I had given an hour of time to my would-be manager and teammates before the on-site panel, the in-person session with these parties wasn't much more than a re-hash of our phone conversations. In fact, the team meeting dissolved into a discourse about how frustrated the team was with working at Esri. The would-be director didn't seem to have any idea who I was or what position I was interviewing for and the the finance rep admitted to not knowing what questions to even ask me. At that point, about 2-3 weeks went by until the HR department made contact again, this time asking if I could come on-site again for 2 interviews on 2 separate days. Because I am still employed somewhere else and had already given the company at least 15+ hrs of my time, I asked if it could be arranged that the meetings occur on the same day. When I interviewed with the CMO, she was smart and engaging, but mostly disinterested since I didn't have the B2B experience she felt the role required. She also asked for my GPA in college, which while appropriate in some contexts, received no comment other than an infantilizing remark about how young I was. To be honest, the whole discourse left a very bad taste in my mouth. (The second interview of the day ended up cancelling an hour prior to the scheduled time). Which leads to today. Lo and behold, I got the call saying I was being screened out due to lack of B2B experience. While I am not surprised given the last interview, I can now understand the frustration of so many applicants' posted experiences. I was screened by HR, the team, the manager, AND the director - how is it possible that NINE different people forgot to bring up that B2B was a "hard" requirement? Additionally, how does it take 3 months to figure that out?
