      Entrevista

My experience involved a chat, getting an unpaid assignment, and no feedback. The first-stage interview was on the phone. I had done several hours of research on the company, their clients, and their products, in order to be prepared and professional. It went fine, but there was nearly no talk about the company itself. For reasons beyond me, the company seems to have a dedicated recruiter. This is despite apparently having another HR employee who looks like they could be doing the recruitment process themselves. The recruiter was very polite, but not very technical. This kind of structure made me dig out the company figures on a well-known checking website. What I saw put me off, but I went ahead anyway. Apparently, no notice was taken of my experience or portfolio. I was just sent one of those coding assignments which are usually best targetted at graduates fresh out of uni. The same folk who live at home with their parents, and have no job, commitments, or family of their own; not experienced developers with a proven track record! This assignment looked like it had been rushed out the door ten minutes earlier. The worst developer I've worked with, who failed code reviews every single time but once, would have no trouble. Having said that, I did the assignment to the best standard I could anyway, and sent it back. No acknowledgement. Days later, I got an automated rejection message, which looked like it had been sent by mistake to all candidates when the position closed. No details, no thanks for my time. So, I followed up, asking for clarification or feedback. I expected at least a small response out of courtesy for my effort. I got nothing. I think this company hasn't considered that candidates can review interview processes. It's 2021, and ghosting hard-working people who are desperately needing a job during a pandemic is a very unprofessional thing to do. HR should represent the company in a more positive way.

Dear candidate, I am sorry to hear that you had a bad experience when applying for a role at Eseye. We take great care to spend time on the phone with every candidate that is screened and progressed through to first interview stage for every role we are recruiting for. The first stage interview is performed by our Talent Acquisition Manager. This stage is an initial screen in order to establish whether a candidate understands what the role applied for involves, and to discuss key skills or experience required, aswell as to check right to work and offer the opportunity to ask questions about the role. If candidates progress to the next stage of our process, this is sometimes an assessment (depending on the role) following which an interview takes place with the hiring Manager during which our Company and the role are discussed in greater detail, and formal interview questions/scenarios are put to the candidate. We do not ever request a coding test as part of our process for Developer roles so I am perplexed as to how it came about that you were asked to complete a coding task? We also always do give individual feedback to every candidate that has been progressed to telephone interview stage or beyond, so again your recollection of an automated email is not consistent with our process or our culture. We strongly believe in providing appropriate feedback to all candidates if they have given their time and effort to apply for a role at our Company. I would like to know more about your experience please, which role you applied for and which Manager you spoke to, so that I can ensure appropriate follow up or action is taken. Please send an email to recruitment@eseye.com and I will be in touch with you. Kind regards, Kirsty Kay (HR Director)
