      Entrevista

      Initially began the process online, but did not complete my application for the "Technical Writer" position. Received an e-mail from an HR rep encouraging me to complete my application. Did so, and received a prompt offer for a phone interview. Phone interview was standard; a supervisor from the technical writing department seemed more interested in talking about the company than asking any real trick questions. It was mostly an overview of your resume and experiences. Soon after, an offer comes to fly you out to Wisconsin, and asks you for your most convenient times. They pay for all travel arrangements, and you can bill them for all expenses. They inform me that in addition to the "Technical Writer" position I applied for, they were considering me for the "Program Manager" role. You fly out to Wisconsin, they arrange for you to have dinner with a current Epic employee, who is not formally evaluating you so you can be comfortable with. The next day, begins a series of tours and interviews. You give a presentation on a topic of your choice, an interview with the HR rep and another with a member of the department you're interested in. You also take a series of quantative and writing tests on a computer. Overall, you get the impression that they fly in thousands of candidates at all times of the year; that their HR reps/employees are rather bored with the whole process; and that they have enough money to fly people in that 1). aren't the most qualified or 2). don't have the strongest interest in. Less than a week after leaving Madison, I get a voicemail saying I didn't get the job. Overall, a valuable experience, ate shrimp and steak on the company dime, and really no regrets applying.

      Glassdoor had very accurate description of the whole process. I did resume drop, did the online assessment, then got scheduled for a role introduction session where you listen to the person who currently has the job to describe what they do. Afterwards, there's the superday online where you will do a 10-min presentation on any topic you like and case study with peers, then behaviors. Overall a pretty smooth and enjoyable experience.

      I sent in my application and received an email from HR two days later asking if I agreed on thee salary. First process is you get a role intro, then an assessment test which is like 4 hours. They heavily rely on your test scores and are confirming that you’re a relatively normal and capable person before they offer you the job.

      I was contacted on LinkedIn by a person from epic who encouraged me to apply for project manager role, sent me a link, I’m guessing I was scouted because on my profile I was #openforwork And I had some EHR software implementation experience in healthcare in my work history. (About 6 months worth). I filled out the project manager application online, I scheduled a time to watch the role introduction (just a zoom live seminar with some info on the role) and take the assessments. I did send the recruiter Just a question before my assessments asking for how much the role paid, like a salary range even, he replied with a non-answer saying that it is different for every candidate and once they have more information on my background, we can talk about salary. That was kind of annoying, seeing as they were asking me to sign up for a 3 to 4 hour test for a role that I wasn’t even sure if it would be worth it, especially since moving to Wisconsin was part of the requirements. My last job was remote and I was mostly looking for remote roles. I studied a bit, looked up some logic questions or questions from the assessment (didn’t find much but a few practice questions online that folks said were from epic hiring tests) I took the assessment and I think I did pretty accurately but I used most of the available time, so speed was not something I felt I really competed on. After a few days I got an email saying that they were not going to move forward with me as a candidate. Seemed like a cool job but I was relieved honestly. It seems like a role for folks fresh out of college where you give your life to the company and they work you to the bone. I’m later in my life and career I don’t really have the energy for all that.
