My recent interview process involved two distinct phases. Initially, I was asked 2-3 technical questions. Following this, I was given a demo project to complete, after which the interviewer questioned me on its specifics. However, a significant point of concern arose when I was asked to come to Chennai for the next stage. Despite having prepared thoroughly for technical questions and my project, I was surprised that Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) were not mentioned at any point prior to this in-person meeting, nor were they highlighted in the job description or my resume. In the direct interview, I was unexpectedly tasked with solving a problem on the spot, with the interviewer observing closely and allowing only 10 minutes for a solution. This approach was unexpected and concerning, as it diverged from the initial focus on technical questions and project work. It left me questioning whether the company genuinely seeks developers with specific technical skills or if their interview process is less about evaluating relevant experience and more about a rapid problem-solving test without prior context or expectation setting regarding DSA.
