A number of red flags in the interview process. The position was not listed at all on the careers section of their website, only on an external site. The screening call was with the CEO. Told I would have to pitch why a senior engineer would be better than hiring 2 junior engineers. No initial follow up after the screening call because the next manager in the chain forgot to contact me and only did after repeated follow-up. Hiring manager seemed surprised to receive a call that I was at the front door for the on-site they invited me to. Told they had gotten a large outside investment in their technology but building was not well maintained. Told to fill out a paper application repeating things on my resume. Things got cold when I stated my expected salary which was average for the position. Told in a follow up email that they are considering more applicants and may want people back for a second round but I never followed up due to all the issues in the interview process. After my interview I noticed the have a salary listed on one of their openings, a junior engineer position looking for 3yoe and offering an extremely low $45k.
