I cited formatting guidelines from the updated official style book and ensured that my editorial work be as detailed as possible. I submitted the test before the deadline. The hiring manager took over a week to review the test and made only a two small comments after reviewing my test. I was told my work was not what they were looking for despite my attention to detail and my documentation of revisions to the work where I cited the style/formatting guidelines from the updated official book. The position stated attention to official style/formatting; I guess they didn't have the updated official style book or lacked the necessary knowledge about the updates to official style/formatting.
