      Entrevista

After applying for online to their website, took 4 weeks to get initial call from recruiter. After this was asked for series of telephonic interviews, starting with hiring manager for screening call(Generally asked about resume and roles and some behavioural questions) Once past that I had 2 other telephonic interviews with another Sr Engineering manager, and Product Manager. The Engineering manager came across as snobbish and just wanted to show off what he knew and less bothered about what role was in for. Your best accomplishments are treated like dirt. The Product Manager interview was nice, he had just joined, and job responsibility included working with him mostly, I thought this went very well and we understood where each came from and had a common understanding of big picture. After couple of days of waiting. I was then asked to visit their office for face to face interviews. I was told I would be having 4 rounds, 1st Hiring Manager(SVP), 2. R&D manager, 3. Engineering team leads 4. HR. My Interviews started around 2 PM in the afternoon to about close 4.30 - Interviews generally averaged between 30 -45 min. I breezed through all the rounds and was generally had a good feeling, especially having made a good initial impression with the Hiring manager in the telephonic round. 1. Hiring manager Intv : Probed more on my previous role and how I could relate and make difference, Since I had a strong background in audio and came from recognised partner this was easy. Towards the end, Hiring manager is impressed and let me on what the next rounds will be and what would they be concentrating on, I thought that was very nice of him. 2. R&D manager -Similar line of questioning and where and how i would fit in, day to day activities etc.. 3. Engineering leads : 2 of them - asked me varied questions ranging from Linux OS basics, C programs, hardware questions - nothing very difficult, you dont have to prepare if your day to day activities revolves around them. Qs : what does notation 666 mean while changing file ownership. : something about structures and classes and how you could convert a structure into class .. scheduling etc.. 4 HR : General Behavioural questions. i thought all my interviews went really well and I should receive the good news from the recruiter soon. I forgot to mention I was the first one to be interviewed for this role, so the recruiter did say they have other candidates and it would take couple of weeks to hear back from them. I was still upbeat as I thought i really connected with the Hiring manager and most of my interviews had a good feeling about it. Waiting .. waiting.. waiting.. After 4 weeks of waiting,. I get the regret email :(.. I was perplexed and confused.. The email did not have any feedback - just that it was a very tough decision and sorry but we found a better candidate matching reqs... Although I would have liked a more detailed feedback on what went wrong, I was busy preparing for an upcoming intv - next day. This intv was again for a R&D manager(different company) - and - surprisingly I got that Job that very day. The decision making was so very fast - I finished the intv and was walking to the parking lot, when my recruiter calls me to say would xxxK salaray would be acceptable :)... Overall I am not very pleased with Dolby Hiring Process - The decision making is so so so so slow...
