Typically, the screening interview is done by a Recruiter. The Recruiter will want to verify experience level as well as domains and industries in which you are knowledgeable. The Account Manager will also want to get to know you to understand if the specific client/opening would be a good fit. A key is that they want you to feel positive about the opportunity before presenting you to their clients.

Received the cold call emails for a Diversant recruiter which kicked off the process.
A phone screener followed which was very basic with questions about my background and comp range. At the end of the call comp ranges were discussed and urgent timing was conveyed. My resume was requested and supplied. Several weeks went by and I did not hear from the recruiter again.
After reaching out a few times to see if the conversations would continue (and if they were to not - no big deal, not a great fit) i did not receive a follow up. I removed this opp and discussion from my job search queue. Having been ghosted by recruiters before this behavior no longer surprises me but does create concerns for how they value the people they are trying to place.

If you are an active job seeker in the market and looking to reach out to the employers - then this company and the recruiters they have is NOT a place for you. You are just a profile that they use to submit to reach a certain number and you will not hear back from them on the status of your application despite trying to contact them(so called recruiters) in everywhich way possible. A recruiter, must least of all have empathy for the job seeker, given how stressful the whole process is. NOT THESE PEOPLE. The least they could do is to drop a note with an update so you can move on - but DO NOT EXPECT SUCH BASIC COURTESY from these people. The recruiter cannot even talk about the role other than read off of tthe description, does not provide any insider insights into what the role is and what the manager could be looking for. The recruiters at this firm have no conviction to help and THAT's pretty much the WORST kind of recruiters to work with. SAVE YOUR TIME AND EFFORT and look for a decent firm that cares.

Recruiter does not know the role being recruited for and is very good at reading off of the job description . Cannot basic questions like targeted timelines, org details, manager expectations . Working with robots would be more humane than the recruiters at this firm. AVOID LIKE A PLAGUE
