I applied online in early July and received a notice from a recruiter that they wanted to screen me three weeks later. There were 4 stages: recruiter call ; interview with the Hiring Manager ; skills test ; virtual interview panel with multiple people from related roles intended to replace the on-site. The recruiter screen and the hiring manager call moved smoothly. I was wondering what a skills test would be for customer service. Turns out it's working through a few sample tickets and explaining your reasoning. The multi-phase on-site was carried out over Discord, and bookended by a chat with the hiring manager and recruiter. People interviewing you had been in the role before, or were in related positions to the role / teams that work closely with it. Some topics were about your skills, some were about mission and values and philosophy. As you might expect, everything was conducted over the Discord platform because of the pandemic. I appreciated the touch of a DoorDash coupon to buy lunch for your lunch break. What I really appreciated about the interview process was that it gave me a deeper insight into my skill set and into myself. Talking about why I wanted to work with Discord specifically and why I believe in the mission of creating communities and connections really helped me articulate my philosophy to customer service and to the importance of a people-centered attitude, and I appreciate that insight and confidence I gained. One point: I wish there'd been more of a chance to clarify anything I'd said earlier to prior interviewers at the end, to address additional thoughts I'd come up with about philosophy or about my skills and approach.

I always admired Discord and was very thrilled when I learned about a turk/rus customer experience associate position opening in Amsterdam office, so I applied for it. After some time Talent acquisition manager scheduled a call with me and we had a pretty nice chat about my experience and reasons for applying for the position. The conversation ended with them saying that they’d be excited to move my candidacy forward and we scheduled a call with a hiring manager. Chat with the hiring manager was ok, except that sometimes it felt a bit chaotic as I was interrupted quite often and the conversation was led off topic, although I had just about 30 minutes to tell about myself. The next day I got a rejection email with no explanation why I got rejected. And it would have been completely understandable, if after writing to them 2 times asking about feedback I received even a small reply with the reasons, however, I was completely ignored. This is such a big disappointment, because Discord has been my dream company and my experience seemed really suitable for this position, and after this interview process all I wanted was to have at least some feedback to help me improve my skills to fit in later…
