      Entrevista para Senior Buyer

      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. Acudí a una entrevista en DigitalOcean (New York, NY) en sep 2017

      Entrevista

It was a phone interview with the HR rep. After that, it would've been a phone interview with a hiring manager, and then in-person interviews with the team. I did the phone interview with the HR rep one day...then the very next day, I received an email from him, saying that they already chose another candidate. They offered that other candidate the position, and they accepted. I asked the HR rep "Didn't the department know that you and I spoke over the phone the day before?". He basically said they weren't going to leave a candidate hanging that they were already interested in. Why not go through the entire process first, make all candidates aware of where you are in the process, and THEN make a final decision after everything is done? Or, if you already know who you want, why are you continuing with phone screenings and other interviews? Shut the process down at that point.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. You are right to question why we wouldn't complete your interview before making a final decision. We go to great lengths to ensure that we are transparent with everyone involved in the hiring process and sometimes in our quest to be transparent we mess up. In a perfect world, everyone interviewing for a particular position would be on the same time frame, sadly this is rare. With this situation there had been a batch of candidates that were able to do their screening calls prior to yours so they were already in interview stage and progressing through the process by the time your recruiting interview was scheduled. At the time of your recruiting interview, there hadn't been a finalist selected so the recruiter kept the appointment with you since the role was still open. In retrospect, we should have given you an update on where the search was WRT to new interview activity. Had you known that there were people at interview stage, you could have decided to stick with your already scheduled recruiting interview OR wait until we knew the outcome of the prior interviews. We are sorry that we handled the communication poorly and we are committed to improving.
