I had a phone interview with the director of the team. A technical interview which took about 1 hour. A week later they invited me for an on site interview. It consisted of 6 panels, meeting with project director, technical director, project manager, lead scientist, two research scientists, two lab engineers. and finally the HR. It went extremely well, I answered all of the questions. The position was specifically targeting my specialty so there was no surprises for me. They told me things like " when you start we do this or that", " can you start next week?", " oh we have no questions for you , you have a great CV, and proceeded with chit chat" , they made lots of statements implying the would extend an offer. I have a lot of interview experience, and have been on both sides of table so I don't get these things wrong. Two weeks later I followed up with them, and they said Oh sorry, we forgot to tell you. we had extended an offer to someone else prior your interview and he accepted the offer. I find this extremely unprofessional. If they had someone in mind they shouldn't have invited me for the interview.
