The process starts with the HR giving more intel about the position and you telling about yourself and your carrier. After this stage, the next two interviews will be technical, where the interviewers try to understand the background you have and out of it asking questions that can easily tell the knowledge level. After that, it might happen to have another interview with the project manager or department director with the focus on understanding if you are a right fit in the team/department cultural-wise. The final part is the feedback where you might get the good news that you are selected (as in my case :) ) and get the job offer.
