The first interview is a standard 30min intro call with an internal recruiter. Next is the offline coding challenge.
When reading the challenges, I said out loud, "Should be easy." Troubleshooting a FE bug, writing some logic, building React components. Not crazy stuff for someone with 3 YoE, much less 8 YoE like myself.
The coding environment. Jiminy Cricket. It's like being handed a junior dev's setup running on a 20 year old laptop. Where that setup is also powered by AI to ensure maximum frustration.
On all the challenges, I was either mid-sentence (for the first one) or mid-refactoring when the time ran out. There's no warning. There's no indication. Just all of a sudden, you can't type anything and in the top right there's a 8px text "Time's up" like dude.
The only mistake I made was thinking that refactoring was worth it with such a bad coding environment.
