Being yourself is not going to cut it. Sure, you should always be polite, and kind, however, if you show an ounce of personality, your most likely not going to make it through. I noticed during the interview if I was calm and relaxed, the interviewer would look down, and not really pay attention to me, but once I started almost "kissing up" then they paid attention. I had to ask them personal questions like their hobbies, interests, and things they like to do outside of work to have them engage. My skills, expertise, and knowledge did not matter, what mattered was if they were going to feel important. I got hired on the spot, and a week later, I left. I found a better-paying job. If you have no other option, work here.
