I was invited to an interview for an in-house strategy role at DHL and was done by an HR rep. He was very condescending, racist, and arrogant. While this may not be true for all HR reps at DHL, it was a traumatic experience which people need to be made aware of. I come from Asia currently doing my MBA in Germany's #1-ranked business school, and yet what was puzzling was the interviewer's audacity to ask if I moved to Germany because I was following my boyfriend. He gave other dumbfounding statements like "oh you worked for a very small company I never heard of this" as if everyone knows every single company that exists in the world. Those among other really cringe-worthy questions turned me off completely. I knew right then it was not worth pursuing.
I strongly believe personal and intimate information have no room in professional job interviews, regardless if those questions are relevant or not. It was a horrible experience for me, and decided not to push through with my application. No job is worth being discriminated for or judged so loosely by people that don't even know you personally.
