Me postulé en línea. Acudí a una entrevista en Curology (San Francisco, CA) en may 2021

      Entrevista

I had an hour long interview with the hiring manager assessing my soft skills. The hiring manager was disinterested and unpleasant. She also asked me questions that were unrelated to a software engineering role. The questions she asked were more for a manager or a product person. She really turned me off from the company.

Connected with a recruiter and then spoke with the manager of the team for a non-technical interview. I agree with the recent reviews on Glassdoor that there is a level of disinterest and maybe hostility from the hiring manager. My impression is they are looking for a very specific personality and if they don't see it within the first 5-10 minutes they just go through the motions for the rest of the time. This would have been a less negative experience if it was limited to a 30 min chat instead of an hour.

A recruiter reached out to me to see if I'd like to talk about positions. I had never heard of the company, and it seemed kind of gimmicky to me (cue the 2am infomercials), but figured it doesn't hurt to have a conversation. After the recruiter conversation, I spoke with a manager. When that went well, I did a tech screen. The tech screen was pretty easy, and everyone I had talked to up to that point seemed very nice and personable. They kept saying it was important to treat employees like people. When my tech screen went well, I was told the next step was the virtual onsite, and someone would reach out to schedule it. Instead, after waiting a week, I received a generic rejection letter, with absolutely no feedback to tell me what happened. I guess treating everyone like a person only goes so far.
