Was scheduled for a phone interview within a week. I met with the rep. The call lasted 5 minutes. After the "tell me about yourself" portion, he said he'd like to be transparent about pay. The band shown was 55k to 84k. He said that the 84k isn't really available for this position, that the high end of the pay range was actually for a different title/job that they aren't hiring for. I feel very baited. I thanked him for his time. At 84k, the pay would have already been on the low end. The range is misleading. If you have no intention of ever offering that amount, just take it out of the job posting. It was a waste of my time and the company's.
