I was approached by a recruiter for an AE role. While not actively looking for a new position, I was intrigued by the company - their solution looks great, and there's a lot of growth.
First recruiter ghosted me TWICE, so I said that I didn't want to speak with them anymore and asked to speak with a different recruiter. The next recruiter ALSO GHOSTED ME. So I complained and asked to leave feedback for a manager. I got a call within an hour, and that call was super great. He implored me to consider moving on in the process --- Mind you, at this point in time, I have not had a single conversation about the role or my qualifications -- and I took him for his word. The second recruiter and I had a really fantastic conversation - the job was technically challenging, an interesting company, etc. I left that interview not convinced that I would be moving forward, but I was glad we actually had the conversation.
ELEVEN DAYS LATER, I had not heard back from them so I dropped them a note and they said essentially "We're not moving forward with you." Again, that's fine, but to take 11 days to get past a phone screen after being ghosted 3 times and having a senior leader at the company asking me to reconsider... for a job I didn't even *apply* for... Look, the company is probably fine, I've had bad recruiters before and the job ended up being great, but this was probably the worst recruiting experience I have ever gone through in my 20 year professional career.
