The recruiter was kind and supportive; however, I was given information about the role’s focus (including the defense sector) that did not align with what the interviewers later communicated. During my conversations, there appeared to be limited clarity around the role’s day-to-day responsibilities and scope. Both interviews also began approximately 10 minutes late. Additionally, I received a survey prior to receiving feedback on next steps, which felt misaligned.

I recently went through the interview process for an Inside Sales role and am sharing this to help other candidates make informed decisions.
During the initial recruiter conversation, there was significant focus on addressing concerns related to the recent acquisition by IBM. While I appreciated the transparency, there was limited clarity on how the acquisition would specifically impact this role.
As I progressed through interviews, I asked detailed questions about how the role was defined within the broader sales organization, including KPIs, territory structure, internal alignment, and how success would be measured. I also asked about close won drivers and primary churn reasons to better understand the sales motion and overall strategy.
The most concerning issue was that the role itself felt largely undefined. Responses often relied on historical context rather than outlining a clear forward looking structure, and there was no concrete explanation of how the position would operate in the current environment.
Ultimately, I was informed the role was being paused. Given how far along the process was, earlier communication about the uncertainty surrounding the position would have been appreciated. The team members I spoke with were professional throughout. However, candidates should ask direct questions about role clarity, stability, and how organizational changes may impact hiring plans.
