Additionally, in the executive team meeting it became clear that they wanted to hear that I coded at work, I coded in my free time, and I coded in my sleep. If you get this far, just tell them what they want to hear - that you live and breathe to do the work they want you to. They even went so far as to imply that since I didn't play an instrument, that math must not come easy to me - and that most of their successful developers played an instrument because it's so metaphysically tied to the same skills as coding. The company has a bit of a cult mentality - their glass door score is high because they exclusively hire people who eat, sleep, and breathe their jobs, which is not the way the world is going and is widely seen as unhealthy in today's day and age.
