It was very fast and simple. Started with a phone screen, called back same day to set up a person to person interview. The people were very nice, asked about my skills and general background.

I went through the full interview process with CI--a phone screening, an interview, did a mock up infographic, second interview and design test. I thought things were going pretty well. I hit it off with the GM of the paper and I was definitely looking forward to an invitation to join their team. They called me the evening after my second interview to verbally offer me the position. The next morning I received a call around 9am with additional details. Around 10am I received the official offer letter. The letter required that I make a decision within 24 hours of the offer. I called to ask for a one or two day extension so I could really weigh the offer and they said that was okay. Six hours later they called and retracted the offer and voided all the paperwork they'd sent me. After everything I'd been through (4+ hours of driving alone!, several hours worth of interview and an entire day spent creating a mock up of an infographic), it was pretty terrible to be given the offer and have it snatched away in less than 24 hours. Not a good way to do business, especially when you're interviewing people in your area.

Applied online, and received a quick phone screening soon after. Then was called back for an in-person interview, interview was average, questions were relevant to the position, but was very quick. Spoke with two individuals, one in person, one on the phone. I didn't think I did well because it was so quick, and was surprised to get a call back for a second interview. Second interview was also very short, and was with three people asking questions. Pretty relaxed though. Questions about design process and practices, as well as work style. Very quick at making decisions, I was called the next business day after each interview.
