I had attended the recruitment drive at the Alwarpet-office, Chennai on Jan 12 2018 for Senior Process Executive,cleared all the interview rounds on the same day and got selected.Now after the documentation, i got to know that the joining date is on jan 22nd and i couldn't afford to join up then since i had an important family ceremony coming up on 23 and had to travel on 21st.I would be getting back only on the 31st.When i explained this difficulty to the the recruiter,her name is Sonia Johnny, she was insistent that the onboarding can't be stretched by any chance beyond 24rth and i have to mandatorily make myself available by then.So i was left with no alternative,but to give up the offer as there was no way i could cancel the trip since it was a pre-planned one.Then a couple of days after that,i got a call stating that the joining date has been stretched to Feb 2nd and i will have to complete the pre-joining formalities before that.I agreed,but unfortunately on that particular day,i couldn't access the portal and there were a lot of hindrances after that which finally left me so frustrated that i lost interest in taking this up.But still after persuation and coaxing from the recruiter,who again assured me that if i am interested,they can stretch the joining date to 7th, i decided to make an all out effort in order to complete this rigmarole.During this process many a time i felt like cutting it down and giving it up because this entire exercise was getting on my nerves,but still i refrained because being a job aspirant i thought i should be more responsible since the company is taking so much of effort for me in stretching my joining dates,but little did i know then,the rude shock i was in for. After much pain and trouble,i finally completed all the pre-joining formalities and was set to join up on 9th.But what followed very soon was something which no self-respecting individual would never tolerate.That same evening i got a call from a guy in the Hr dept who is telling me evasively that my graduation is suspect and the documents which i uploaded is fake,hence i cannot join cognizant.These are the only two words,suspect and fake which he kept on mumbling without giving me a precise response on what grounds is he talking like this.I attribute it to his utter ignorance and incoherence.When i called up the recruiter,she told me that the background verification team found my graduation to be a suspect and has hence decided to terminate my candidature.Now,let me get to the crux of the matter . I had already stated at the time of the interview that i pursued my graduation thro the distance mode and my documents were accessed by this recruiter Sonia Johnny during documentation as well.If this so-called background verification experts have found the institution where i got my degree from ie shobhit institute of distance education is a suspect,let me make it clear that this institute comes under Shobhit Institute of Engineering and Technology,which is a deemed to be university established under section 3 of the 1956 act of UGC and it is in the list of universities approved by UGC.This is clearly mentioned in my certificates too.I have done a through background check on all these matters before undertaking to enrol here.And since the word suspect is used it can only remain an unfounded allegation. It can never be proved beyond doubt as the truth is right there in the front and suspicions don't have any factual scrutiny whatsoever.Now what saddens me is not that i was unable to join, because for me,if not this job definately some other job somewhere else,but after making me run around in circles all in the name of procedures and pre-joining formalities after all this red-tapism,finally i am disposed off in a cavalier manner where even my bona-fides are questioned, all in the name of an harebrained and absolutely worthless suspicion despite having all the qualifications to take up the job. I can see that cognizant-chennai is conducting interview drives by a dime and a dozen on a weekly basis which makes one wonder if all this is a farce,considering the way they are going about it.I doubt very much if all this is genuine.Whatever it is,that is not my lookout.I just wanted to bring to your kind attention all what i, as a job aspirant, went thro in cognizant.Please don't make a mockery of job aspirants and their efforts and the trouble they undergo to abide by the rules.This is my earnest request to all those decision makers who are sitting pretty there to make fractured rules and irrational allegations.And to all job aspirants like me take everything that comes from this company as a learning experience.Don't get dazzled by all this brand name and stuff like that.
