The recruiter was late, struggled to pull up my resume, then asked what job I was even applying for because she couldn’t tell. Proceeded to read my resume back to me and seemed very irritated if I corrected her. I had double the social media and marketing experience the position called for but she sounded incredibly disappointed that I didn’t have more than 10 years of Facebook business experience (role called for only a couple years) and that I wasn’t running an Instagram business profile prior to the year Instagram even released business profiles. She then went over my marketing experience and decided I shouldn’t count my freelance work as experience and slashed years off the total. After all of that she didn’t allow me to ask any questions about the role and just told me to watch my email to see if there would be a second interview. I felt so disrespected and astonished. It was as if she expected me to time travel to gain experience in platforms and tools that literally didn’t even exist yet and she sounded like I was wasting her time by even having applied.
