I interviewed for a Product Manager role for their in car OEM digital cockpit. The technical interview was setup with their partner company - Tinnove. 3 interviewers joined the interview panel and kicked off the interview without doing any introductions of themselves. I had no idea who I was speaking to or what job they did. Their English was very poor with strong accent and I was struggling to understand them. One of the interviewer was so unprepared, she was reading interview questions on her screen and ended up mixing two questions resulting in a garbled question. The second interviewer had an extremely unprofessional demeanour. I could see her laundry drying in her video background and the bottom half of her face was off camera for 90% of the interview duration, thanks to her sitting position. They did not ask me any questions related to my skill set or past achievements, they mostly focused on questions only pertaining to how I would bring them business in Europe. Then followed the HR interview, the HR lady is based in Birmingham and seemed more professional and easier to talk to. First red flag about this role is when I asked her about the salary range for this role, she told me they didn’t have a range define as they were testing the market and I was one of the first candidates to be interviewed….. Excuse me what? The second red flag was that this role was intended to be 100% onsite with no possibility for any flexibility, but the job description made no mention of this. I also questioned her about the company culture and she mentioned that European employees struggle with adapting to their mainland Chinese non- flexible and extremely demanding work culture. I then got ghosted after the interview - did not receive any update on the outcome of my interview. However, I am quite grateful because I would have been miserable had I got hired. Dodged a bullet there.
