The interview process for me was exceptional, especially because it took a couple tries to get here:
I initially applied in August after a recent layoff, with an employee referral. I got to the phone screen with the Recruiter, who was amazing and very candid with me. She shared they had an internal candidate further along in the process, but liked me enough to advocate for me. Turns out they went with the internal candidate, but about a month and a half later the job posted again, and the recruiter remembered me.
From there, constant communication and feedback every step of the way. CarGurus was not uncomfortable with me asking for info in advance of each stage of the interview, where I could take notes and prep for each round. Each round timeline was quick, and they wanted to move faster, which was okay with me.
I had an offer from a non competing company that while I was grateful to have; I wanted CarGurus more. My recruiter was not intimidated, thanked me for my honesty, and we were able to have my final interview move to an offer.
Every person I met in this journey, from my recruiter to my now manager and director; has been a breathe of fresh air. I read so much about company culture and why it’s one of the better companies, and everything I experienced lived up to the billing. Transparently, me being laid off really shook me to my core; and I often wondered if I was even worthy of a company who is so known for being so good to its employees. Turns out, they believed in me, and I’m excited to give them my everything.
