      Entrevista

If you wrote your degree on Assessment Centres, you would know that Canonical’s talent acquisition (TA) process couldn’t be further from best practise and isn't lacking contradictions: 1. Using a test that isn’t any predictor of competency: Canonical is referring to Thomas’ assessment as “significant factor” in their decision whereas if you read carefully a Thomas report, it states: "there are no good or bad profiles based on GIA scores, as both high and low scores can be suitable for different job roles”. 2. If testing, why not use a proper one? As stated by Thomas, their tests aren't any predictor of competency. Eg.Thomas task: visualise and turn the letter R around in your mind. I’m sure many bright candidates had passed proper intelligence tests that might be some indicator of skills. (Personally, I passed Procter & Gamble's 1 hour Maths & Statistic assessment, which at the time was only passed by 20% of attempters.) Why should you feel inferior based on the Canonical approach using an irrelevant test? 3. Measurement/Feedback and Communication A proper TA process starts with defining what Success means. It continues with Communicating that to the candidates. It ends with giving Specific Feedback after Each task. None of the Canonical TA steps will tell you upfront what Success means. And you won’t get Specific Feedback after each their tasks either. Why? See below. 4. Peers as Hiring Leads? You can read hundreds of interview feedbacks with Canonical team sitting bored and incompetent at interviews (they don’t read resumes, don’t read the written interviews prepared by candidates, etc.) And even if they did, who would want to hire a candidate, who has a better profile & experience than they do? Wouldn’t a ‘better' candidate mean a threat to the peer? As such, the current level of ‘expertise' is the ceiling of Canonical’s (un)professionalism. It’s a self destructive mechanism. 5. Are you one of the claimed ’60,000 candidates’/month? Give thanks if you are not in a situation where you need to work for Canonical with a 3.3 review score from this site! This TA practise continued as is, will contribute to further brand damage & will erase their remaining reputation.

step 3, first part: 3 interviews with peers, each lasting 1 hour. they asked me different questions during each interview. Questions: What is my experience with handling expense reports? What is needed to organize a great event? Did I have an uncomfortable situation with a colleague, and how did I solve it?

Extremely long and drawn out process - 5 months of periodic 1 hour interviews, 2 assessments and a lengthly essay-esque Q&A request after the initial application. They never confirm what salary range you're looking at either, which makes one wonder if the time is even worth it. And they have certain "health requirements" that are wildly out of date given no countries require them for entry anymore. The worst part - if you get to the end of the process and they decide you aren't what they want, they point blank say that they will not give ANY feedback as to why. While I could understand that for a first or second interview, after getting so close to the finish line, a candidate deserves a little personal touch - at least more than a form email!

I received an email after submitting my application asking me to complete a written interview, and then I would have 4 1-hour interviews, followed by additional interviews (amount and duration not listed). The written interviewed asked me about my high school experience and college entrance exams scores. All of this and they don't have the pay range available. I dropped out of the process immediately due to their atrocious process. They are definitely leaving good talent on the table with this approach.
