Applied to a non-research staff position last year based on a recommendation and the call for people with german nationality to apply. Overall process lasted 4 months. Had an invitation to a hireflix interview with a few questions of situations and what to do. After that I had an interview with a panel of a few people. Introduction and then the panel took turns asking selected questions. It was more generic. There is no natural structured flow of conversation around position, current challenges, daily task and expectations as you might expect. After that there came a small chat with people working there, which gave some insight. Feedback was promised after 7-10 days. I waited 3 weeks, then reminded them. They did not send out a rejection. Instead I got a call, so not sure why I was only told but no rejection in the portal. The reason given why they went with another canidate was that the other canidate had experience working in another research institution (maybe internal?), a critera that was not actually in the job description as it was a admin position every company has. I think I was interviewed for the statistics as it was clear from the beginnning that I did not have that criteria. The time spend, delay and justification was therefore partially disappointing because they made little sense to me in relation to the position.
