I applied on the Burberry website and was contacted fairly quickly by an HR Manager for an initial telephone interview. This was purely to assess if I would go forward to the next round to be interviewed by the Senior Communications Manager. There were two areas that seemed to be a problem for the HR person. First that I had done many contracts and was now going for a permanent position (unfortunately that's how the market has been for me but she thought I was like a troubleshooter and only around for new challenges). Second was the issue of salary which was £5,000 less than I currently make. That may have been a problem for me but one which I think interviewers shouldn't really concern themselves about.
