I applied to a job posted on Linkedin advertised as Director of Public Relations. About 30 minutes after I applied, I got a call from Brookstone's receptionist who also handles HR. She confirmed that she was contacting me to schedule an interview for the Director of Public Relations role and asked me what my desired salary was, which I told her and she said that it was in line with their budget for this position. Upon my arrival to their well-appointed office I was greeted by the receptionist. I interviewed with a gentleman who said he was the company founder. He then informed me that he was not looking to hire a PR director but was looking for field sales people (to my complete shock) and the starting wage would be less than half of the salary confirmed by the person who scheduled the interview over the phone the day before. This was a complete waste of my time and their job post was a complete lie. I wouldn't work for any organization that thinks it's ok to lie to people just to get them in the door, this wastes everyone's time and is a deceptive bait and switch practice that is just plain wrong.
