I had multiple rounds of interview for a TA Manager role and it became apparent it would make more sense for them to hire a Director of TA and have the entire global function under one umbrella. I created an org chart how this role would be structured and gave them a job description. They were very impressed and decided it would make sense to hire a Director. I had 3 rounds of interviews and meet with the entire HR team along with the business leaders of all the units. The hiring manager told me they were ready to move forward with an offer and was sent an assessment as a standard practice. I followed up with HR the next week and did not hear back. A week later I received an email that they weren't ready to hire for this role and thanked me for my time. I reached out to the hiring manager and asked if we can get on a call and they never responded. A month later a Director of TA was posted. I am shocked how unprofessional they were and didn't have the decency to return my call instead sent me a standard rejection email along with taking my ideas. I spent hours upon hours preparing for the interview along with taking vacation time to interview. For a company that's trying to be progressive they clearly don't care about the candidate experience.
