The interview process was structured, thorough, but very long. I began with a recruiter screen, followed by a conversation with the hiring manager. From there, I completed a couple rounds of interviews, 5–6 people in total, including a take home exercise and an interview with the Chief People Officer. Overall, the interviewers were warm, thoughtful, and asked tough but fair questions that reflected the company’s high standards.

Most questions centered on my ability to solve problems as a recruiter, build strong stakeholder relationships, and create processes or strategies from scratch. I was also asked several values-based questions tied to what the company emphasizes: ownership, building from the ground up, maintaining a high bar for excellence, and adaptability in a fast-changing environment.
Sadly, the reviews on this are accurate. This was a very poor representation of BetterUp. The recruiter who interviewed me has no business working in TA. The interview started with a warm introduction but went downhill fast once we discussed the role. For starters, she sent me several emails with someone else's name and was never once apologetic for sending so many wrong emails. Once she finally got it right, the call was able to commence. I thought she was joking when I read she had only set aside 20 minutes for our call (and it was over in 17 minutes).
She never once shared about the company and what problems their product was designed to solve never once hyped up the company and it's mission—nothing! There was no agenda for the call. She never asked if I had any questions about the job/the role. Once she had asked her questions, she closed with, "It was great talking to you. I'll get with the manager and see if she's interested in talking with you." And ended the call.
So unprofessional! I've been in the TA for over 10 years and have worked for very well-known companies in the tech space. Let me say that I would never treat someone so poorly in my life. If I were managing this TA Partner, I would have her take a training course on how to conduct an interview. And I get it; if the person is not a fit, that's fine. At least have the common courtesy to treat them with respect.
This recruiter was cold and rude. For those looking to apply for this job, save yourself the time. This job is always posted; they can't keep people. After my interview, I came to Glassdoor to see that it's a revolving door. I'm honestly happy I didn't go any further in the process. Crisis averted!

I was contacted by BetterUp requesting an interview (I did not apply - they found me). I was scheduled by a different person than who I spoke to. When I spoke to the Recruiter, he had me confused for another person. He spent about 10 minutes asking me about my previous 2 years of work history and then abruptly ended the conversation asking if I had any questions. He briefly answered and then ended the call entirely. I have never been approached about a job only to be so brushed off and disrespectfully treated. From one Recruiter to another, this is why Talent professionals have bad reputatitons. I would not want to work with a team that treats people so flippantly.
