On November 20th 2024, I had an interview with BeatBox Beverages for the People and Culture position. I was initially scouted for the role and proactively pursued the opportunity to secure an interview. I had the privilege of speaking with the individual I would report to if selected. The interview was positioned as a “quick chat” but turned into an excellent conversation. I was commended for my preparation and knowledge about the organization and was informed that I would move forward to the next rounds after the Thanksgiving break.
I was told to expect two additional interviews, along with a detailed timeline. Following the conversation, I sent a thoughtful thank-you email and included a project I created specifically for the role. Unfortunately, I did not hear back. I followed up once more but received no response.
I was surprised and disappointed to later receive a generic rejection email stating that the role had been filled, as if I had never interviewed. It was particularly disheartening given the prior communication that I would advance to the next stages.
Being unemployed is already a difficult experience, and receiving misleading or unclear information only adds unnecessary frustration. For an organization that prides itself on its people and culture, I had expected a more transparent and respectful process.
